Hello, my name is Verna D. Johnson, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under clinical supervision. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and also hold a Master of Public Administration. I am a Certified Mediator and Certified Financial Social Worker, bringing a blend of clinical insight, systems thinking, and practical problem‑solving to the therapeutic space.
Over the past two and a half decades, I have worked across education, the private sector, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies in both Texas and Illinois. The individuals and families I’ve served range from ages 6 to 90 and include at‑risk youth, adolescents with behavioral disorders, women who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence, women in recovery, male veterans who are incarcerated, displaced workers seeking employment, and individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system — whether as victims of crime or loved ones navigating trauma and loss.
I believe therapy is a place to reclaim your voice, your clarity, and your capacity to rise again. Life is a journey, not a destination, and the conflicts, detours, and disruptions that feel unbearable at worst, or anxiety‑ridden at best, are not signs of failure. They are invitations to pause, reflect, and rebuild with intention.
My role is to walk alongside you as you make sense of your story, reconnect with your strengths, and create a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and authentically yours. Healing is not about erasing what happened; it’s about discovering that you are more than what you survived.
