Hello! My name is Louretta Nickerson. I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2013 with my  bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. I later received her masters degree in Social Work from Our Lady of The Lake University in 2019.

It’s important you know I have a heart to serve! I have participated in various community service projects in the Galveston area. My experience includes working with The March of Dimes Honey Child program as a group facilitator and mentor. I coordinated community service projects for the YMCA-Galveston Branch. I also  served as the 2nd Vice President of Women’s Missionary Society (Texas Conference) of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.  While serving as the 2nd Vice President, I was able to increase membership in the church and my organization of young women, ages twenty years to age forty, within three years.  We partnered with the Senior women in the church to provide, Well Health Checks, were active in The Street Ministry to provide clothes, meals and resources.

I look forward to facilitating the Teen Empowerment Circle and helping young girls achieve social and emotional success.
