I am sure as an adult you have said to a family member, friend or co -worker, “I would not want to be a teenager now.” It’s true! Social networking, bullying, and emphasizes on body image has made it difficult for young girls to comfortably settle into their teen years.
My experience in the hospital setting and local resident treatment facilities has allowed me to understand teen girls desire to be heard, supported and accepted. I also had the pleasure of working with parents who wrestled with how to support their teen daughter when they begin to act out and isolate. It can be a complex time for the family unit but is a vital stage of development for teen girls. She is growing, evolving with each new experience.
As your daughter’s therapist, I will provide a safe and non-threatening space for her to talk about challenges faced at home, school and in her social circle. I am passionate about providing teen girls with coping strategies that will improve self-worth and interpersonal relationships.
